for one thing, "those who know, don't speak, and those who speak, do not know". the stupidest people are always the loudest.

another aspect is, there's a lot of benefit to be gained for someone or other if people were to become ultimately more and more disenfranchised with the rest of the human race. the way things are going on with the rest of everyone else, is continually presented to us in a certain light - with a certain agenda. yet we have persistent problems distinguishing that which we are presented with through media, with reality.

sure some people are nuts, crappy, and loud. a lot of people aren't, but you won't hear about them. magnify a million times the most evil, the most ridiculous, the most insane - and broadcast it loud, very loud, every hour of every day. people stop trusting each other, and stop speaking their minds.

as long as we become more and more afraid of each other, less and less progress gets made in making the world a better place
