I hold the receipt up to the overhead lights and tell the receipt checkers that it is 'counterfeit' and I'd like to be audited...

I simply stopped going to Walmart.

Any other store they ask, I either let them keep it or walk by.

Wow it seems they are highly suspicious of you in America. Here in the UK at ASDA, the UK Walmart, nobody asks for or expects a receipt to be shown on the way out. The only time a person will be questioned is if the electronic beeper thing goes off at the doors indicating that an item has not been scanned and paid for, and then it's the security team....not greeters...who will attend and look into your bags

if you have a contract with a big store, then you may need to show a receipt, so check your contract.
at regular public stores, like walmart, you do NOT have to show a receipt.
they can only ask, they cannot detain you.
they have no authority.

you're pretty low level if you shop at stores where you need a receipt and they worry about theft.

It doesn't bother me. Less theft equals lower prices. If it gets to be too intrusive I will shop elsewhere.

I've walked out of walmart with my purchased items many times without showing receipt. No one tried to chase me down or gave me a second look.

then don't shop at those stores that require it- if you're a truthful person then shop local stores only and be rewarded by not shopping to enrich the globalist elites!

In college some buddies that I was renting a room from had parties. Sometimes 50 people that I didn't know would be there. You can bet that if we saw or suspected someone of stealing and they told us to fuck off they would have got their ass kicked. A store has no way to know if someone is a thief or not. I bet if you owned a store you would not be so against it. You have the option not to shop there. You can thank the thieves who shoplift for the inconvenience. 50 years ago stores did not do this because people tended to be more honest.

At the time I pay for my goods they become my property. it becomes my choice to show mt ownership papers or not.

I would do the same thing if I owned/ran/managed the store. Deters shoplifters.

When my friend and I go to one of the bulk rate stores, we switch receipts. I'd say 80% of the time, especially if the line is a little long, the checker scans the receipt, lifts up an item in the cart and then passes us through. I used to hate showing my receipt so I've just made it into a laughable game.

It is your problem idiot. If stores could not check if items were purchased then internal and external thefts would cripple the store. It would either have to increase prices of close down. This would mean wholesale loss of jobs which would impact all the businesses the terminated ex employees used. The cars they drive to the house or apartment they live in. But all that doesn't matter to you. Next time a cop pulls you over, refuse to show current insurance. They are demanding you show proof you purchased something, insurance. Of all the ills in this world, asking to show you bought something is your concern. However if the biz world loses enough and petition for a law to mandate showing purchases were made, then it's ok. That stupidity is why we volumes of laws, civil and criminal.

I know a lady that USE TO go in a Walmart and purchase 5 items and keep the receipt. Then she would go back in and get the same 5 items and slip them into a Walmart bag along with the receipt then show the checker and out she went.
She didn't need money but was only seeing if she could get away with it.
