The Effects of Crystal Meth
I posted this as a comment in another thread, but wanted to share it as it's own post. I have never seen a person give this accurate of a description and thought it may be helpful to some people. Typically when I read an article about the effects of the drug, it elaborates on the physical aspects such as sores and looking sick, not on the psychological ramifications.

I am sharing this to spread awareness. This drug is very dangerous and is capable of tricking the user to think it's not. I've lost too many people to death from addiction. If the thought every crosses your mind to try it, I hope that you will remember these words - they could save your life.

Let's get to it...

--

The first time I smoked it, it was like opening my eyes for the first time. I realized that I lived my whole life as a shadow of the person I could be. As the effects kicked in, I was able to think clearer and faster than I ever had before. It's like my brain under sobriety only ran at 5%.. This drug broke down the barriers and I could finally be and think at my full potential. The whole world opened up.

It gives a very powerful stroke of confidence. Since my thinking was clearer, I became more creative. Ideas flow, you feel an overwhelm love and appreciation for others. At the same time, I would get rushes if euphoria and would feel like my body is floating. I would stay up for a week at a time. The drug removed the need to sleep and also completely removed hunger. It also made me hornier than I have ever been.

Everything is perfect until the sleep depravation psychosis kicks in. Serious paranoia along with hallucinations. I would be counter surveillancing feds that were staking me out. Watching people climb though the trees and take my photos. Peeking out the windows for days on end waiting for them to kick in the door. To this day I am unable to tell if these were hallucinations or if I was being watched. This happened on many occasions. Talk to any tweaker and they'll tell you similar stories. The hallucinations are commonly referred to as " shadow people".

Telling you my experience wouldn't be complete without telling you about the withdrawal. Once addicted, in no way can an addict function without it. Without the drug, the brain is basically dead. Cannot think, cannot feel anything except desperation, hatred, and sadness.

This is my best effort to explaining meth withdrawals:

Imagine being tied up to a chair. Someone puts a plastic bag over your head and tapes it shut.. Now fast forward a minute in time. That's the moment of what meth withdrawal feels like. This is the reason people steal and are willing to do anything for their next hit. The brain perceives withdrawing and death as the same.

When I got clean, it took about 3 years for my brain to recover and stop with random cravings. But even to this day, the image of the crystals melting in the pipe still occasionally pop into my mind, followed by a rush of excitement. I don't think that will ever go away.

My sobriety date is July 8th, 2012.

Re: The Effects of Crystal Meth
Thanks for sharing your story.

Frankly I’ve been interested in looking into CM as possible therapy for my spouse. After years of marriage & 4 kids she now claims she has always been asexual. She sees this as another sexual orientation in the alphabet rainbow (lgbtq&A)...not a sickness that needs curing. She says she has never experienced the big O (I always assumed that I just wasn’t that good of a lover or not well endowed). She doesn’t care about sex nor cares that she doesn’t care. The pressures bring to bare many temptations and aggravation. Divorce & remarriage isn’t in the cards as we really do love each other...and I could find my health changing a few years later too. I have a patent gut-level distrust of psychiatrists & think of them as leeches.

I’ve placed ads on Craig’s list looking for real people experienced in CM use who also are ACE...no one understands the question or situation, and not sure I would trust a stranger either. Like your experience, All respondents agreed that sexual desire was enhanced but no one was previously asexual prior to using it.

I don’t like seeing the negative effects CM use has had on some local people on the street and would never want to hurt her. I just want her to experience an over-the-top O at least once in her life. And of course secretly hope that hit would be all it takes to jump-start her seemingly dead battery.

Lately the temptation to find some has been very strong but I don’t have a clue how to buy or make it.

Stories like yours reenforce my resolve not to use meth as the goal is for her to enjoy sex not be addicted to the drug.

There is a lot of cheaply made meth on the market that is extremely toxic. It's only a matter of time before that crap starts eating at you. There are sources for pharmaceutical grade dope that don't cause those problems. It all depends on the source.

Like OP said, the worst part of getting spun up is the terrible effects of sleep deprivation and poor nutrition for lack of sleep and food. I knew people in my circle that had been using meth daily for 15 years and you would never know because they were able to sleep and eat normally. Folks like that are rare and I think it's mostly people that are predisposed to ADD/ADHD. Meth is just like the prescription drugs for ADD but about 100 times more in your face.

I've also been around people using high grade meth that just couldn't handle it. They would get on benders and leave their families for weeks at a time getting into all kinds of trouble.

Bottom line, don't ever fuck with stimulants like meth.

Used meth plenty.

Anyone who says it doesn't have a medicinal purpose has never used it.

Like anything else, be fucking responsible with it.

Need to stay awake for a few days? Meth.

Don't do it every day. A dose once a week, maximum, and you might be able to avoid physical dependence. That physical addiction, as described in OP, is where problems come.

Have you ever been awake for 3 days straight? That's the worst effect you'll get if you only do it once a year.

They're prescribing the shit to children ffs. Amphetamine based ADHD medication is nothing short of meth. You can smoke that and it's nearly just as strong, and btw much cleaner than what bubba is cooking in his garage.

God gave us these chemicals and the ability to synthesize them. He trusts us to not kill ourselves with it. Be responsible.

Blow is way more expensive in the US and does not last as long as a stimulant.

Cocaine is much more effective as a local anesthetic than a stimulant.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I think that you did this in order to save some people and I thank you for that!I don't personally have too much experience with or exposure to this drug but my father is a counselor and so he does have some experience and I have heard all of the scary stories involved. With that said, I can see that it is a terrible way to die. Also, as an addictive personality person, I can see the draw. It is just something that has to be overcome any way that you can. I am just grateful that so far this is something that I have managed to steer clear of...

The last prescription I had for ADD med was Vyvance and if the dose was too strong, it was almost as powerful as smoking meth. Amphetamines are nothing to play around with if you don't have a high level of self control.

thanks for sharing, sounds a lot like someone i know who goes from loving everyone to seething hatred. i knew he took adderall at times, now found rolled up bills like coke straws, was told they snort it.

now he is vaping a lot, i am now suspecting something besides pot he is vaping, or both cuz he love pot, doesn't smell like pot to me, are people putting it in vape pens? do they sprinkle on pot?

I'm told adderall is like meh, what a fkn crap drug, ever since he started it he claims it made his life so great and tried hard to get my son to take it, thank God he hate all drugs.

the biggest thing I've noticed about adderall abuse is what a giant asshole they turn into all the while thinking they're just brilliant, what a sh8t drug

prescription amphetamines are in a salt form and are pressed with binders that makes it impossible to get high by smoking it without a complicated chemical process. Likewise, snorting crushed prescription pills does not get a person any higher than if they just swallowed the pill.

meth, however, can be taken in many different ways with each form of administering the drug resulting in different effects.

meth is extremely polar and dissolves easily in water and other polar solvents. Therefore, it can be dissolved in vegetable glycerine (or any flavored vaping oil which is glycerine / glycerol based) and vaped without anyone knowing what is being vaped. Your suspicions might be well founded.

yeah one other trait I've noticed in the adderall abuse is autistic like absortion in one thing or subject, an obsession to sort or fix something, take something apart, ruminateb on same subject over and over, thinking they're brilliant, thinking the drug makes them focused and brilliant when what i see appears to be almost autistic like
