Wild Turkeys Hang Out with Hunter in Tree Stand

No better turkey call than a domesticated female turkey. Pretty smart.

Great thread Par, the wild turkeys in my remote neck of the woods walked through 2 ft of snow and came on my porch yesterday and banged on the door to ask for food help. They know me, Birds are my best friends. I had to make a rare trip to town today and ravens fallowed me the first 10 miles at least.

For the historians:

When I was a kid in the early 1960s, we hunted on Flat Rock Ranch near Bandera, TX.

The owner of the ranch was an old man named Gould.

He told us...

"One day I was driving my pickup around the ranch. I saw a young turkey roosting the the bottom branches of a cedar tree.

The only gun I had with me was an old 10 gauge single shot with a bulge in the barrel from when someone had fired it with mud blocking the end of the barrel.

I aimed and fired at the young turkey. Then, I found out that an entire flock was roosting in that tree that I had not seen.

I killed 17 turkeys with one shot!

Would have gotten my name in the Bandera newspaper if it had been in season".

Me too. I think most animals are released into the wild but grown somewhere else.

I would have pulled out my knife and stabbed them. No animals are getting the way of my hunt.
