Cat litter question?
I was wondering what cat litter everyone uses? I’m tired of having cat litter all over the place. Anyone have a suggestion on which litter doesn’t stick to cats paws? Thanks!!

Re: Cat litter question?
Try hardwood pellets used for burning / heating.
Costs way less than commercial cat litter, and no
nasty chemicals in it.
Pile it no higher than 3 inches in the litter box.

Plus commercial cat litter is poisonous shit to your cats.
I bet cat litter often shortens cats lives.

You want to completely throw out all pellets in the litter box at least once a week, with all fresh pellets.
It seems to lock into the pellets the cat piss smell, also. Pretty ideal.

Re: Cat litter question?
I use non scented cheap shit but change it very often. I put cat paw mats around the litter box and that generally knocks off any cling on litter gravels. The mats have like little soft plastic teeth on them and it works pretty darn good, you're mileage may vary!

Try one of these. The pellets do track around the house a bit but you will never have to empty a litter box again. Works like a dream.

Re: Cat litter question?
Use mats to trap litter
Don't use a dif brand if they are used to it
Changing brands can make them go outside of the box

I use litterboxes that have covers and a mat at the entrance hole, it helps keep the litter in the litter box. I use unscented clumping litter.

Re: Cat litter question?
I use a clumping non scented kitty litter in a porcelain tiled floor bathroom, premium choice.

[link to www.chewy.com (secure)]

I add litter attractant by Dr. Elseys, stir into fresh litter about 1 tablespoon.

[link to www.chewy.com (secure)]

Yes, a very little kitty litter is tracked outside the box. I have a dustpan & broom & sweep it up. Easy.

I have researched using sawdust pellets used in horse barns found at a Farm/Feed store. It is super cheap.

The pee will release the pellets into saw dust.

Using a two part box, the sawdust will fall to the bottom box. Empty it. Scoop the poop.

I did not follow through as many cats won't use it as it is not comfortable on their feet.

Did not want to risk it as I am happy my cat gets her BUTT IN THE BOX.

Re: Cat litter question?
My whole life changed for the better when I switched to stall bedding pellets (not wood stove pellets, they're not pet friendly).

A big bag at the tractor supply company is 6 dollars and lasts me 10 weeks with 4 cats.

My cats didn't like the pellets so I get them wet to make sawdust to use in their boxes (learning curve).

There's absolutely NO cat odor in the house or near the boxes!
The savings over clay or clumping litter is ASTOUNDING!
Tracked sawdust is minimal, easy to clean up and you don't feel if you step on it with bare feet.
I can flush the poops in the toilet (not save in a smelly bag) and spread the used litter around the yard.
The pine sawdust self cleans the boxes, I just add more every couple days, so I haven't completely emptied and cleaned any boxes for over a year, just wipe the walls with a damp paper towel every once in a while.

Mine did for a few years with mixed results, the pine is cleaner and easier on us all.

Ever notice the droplets that splash onto the seat when they poo?

Re: Cat litter question?
I have 2 boxes & use Dr. Elsey's litter. Under the boxes I have 2 iPrimio jumbo litter trapper mats. The mats are 2-layers: bottom is regular mat but top is honeycomb holes that litter falls into, down to the bottom layer. One side of the mat is closed w/3 sides open. It's lightweight so every so often you can pick it up & easily dump the loose litter back into the box. There's still some strays if they jump from the box onto the carpet, but the mats help a ton.
