Hey, you rascally reptile! Good to "see" you as well - just getting ready to do a bit of fishing next week. Sadly, no salmon - the Pinks are biting like crazy but my boat's not big enough for ocean fishing. Lots of trout where I'm heading though!

Heya 'Ren, good to see you!

Found out at the beginning of the week that my 83 YO Uncle, in Florida, was in the hospital for a few days with COVID. He's home and fine now, cutting the lawn because bored LOL! My Aunt never tested positive and hasn't felt at all sick.

They have confirmed that my nephew has Graves, and that the COVID is the only explanation - it must have triggered an underlying condition when he was fighting it.

SO we have an 83 year old man who was in the hospital for 3 days, and 2 days later was cutting the lawn - and we have a health 25 year old that was in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks, was recovering for nearly a month (his fiancee too) and ended up with a permanent issue.

Weird world, eh?

Aside from that, all is well, and everyone else is doing well. Just getting ready for a camping trip during which I plan to spend a LOT of time pretending to try and catch fish :D

Yes. It is rampant, here in Mississippi. Went from 400 or so cases, per day, to 1200-1500 per day, within a month.

No masks to be seen, until recently.

Girlfriends ex mother in law died last night. 75 years old. Caught it from a worker in the nursing home she was in. Coded twice, then her heart stopped. All alone. No funeral planned. DISEASE FROM HELL!!

I don't know what to do, I'm a 60 yo teacher with COPD, asthma and diabetes and qualified by doctors as "highest risk medically". No social distancing in the school, no measures, no tests and we are BANNED from buying our own PPE (you can't buy it unless you're healthcare). I need to pay the bills but the risk is so high. Medical workers have PPE .. I'm so scared I can't sleep.

If you want to understand what went wrong in #Arizona: it all starts here. The outbreak in Arizona NEVER was declining. It grew slowly before mid-May and then more quickly.

(Note that this is an epi-curve and last 2 weeks are NOT reliable data points).

Japan Acted Like the Virus Had Gone. Now It’s Spread Everywhere.

After initial success, Japan is facing a reality check on the coronavirus.

The country garnered global attention after containing the first wave of Covid-19 with what it referred to as the “Japan Model” -- limited testing and no lockdown, nor any legal means to force businesses to close. The country’s finance minister even suggested a higher “cultural standard” helped contain the disease.

But now the island nation is facing a formidable resurgence, with Covid-19 cases hitting records nationwide day after day. Infections first concentrated in the capital have spread to other urban areas, while regions without cases for months have become new hotspots. And the patient demographic -- originally younger people less likely to fall seriously ill -- is expanding to the elderly, a concern given that Japan is home to the world’s oldest population.
