Report from Walmart in Mid-America. They were a 24-hour Walmart and as most have reduced hours. They have two front entrances, and the only one open now is the one to the grocery and home area. This is where it gets good, they have it roped off with orange fencing into single lines, like cattle going to slaughter into a cattle shoot. That is what you have to go through to get into the store to shop. Over the intercom they are constantly telling people to stay 6 foot apart. Employees are going through the aisles with picket signs, like in a protest, that say "Stay 6-foot across." I was hot and agitated by the whole behavior and how I was treated as a customer.

I called the store manager back when I returned home, and was told they are only doing what management is telling them to do. I told her to send it up that we are not cattle, we are customers, and this humiliating and degrading.

OK I will be plain and simple. I am educated, I am safe, and I am healthy, but in the process people do not need to be treated like animals on sale at a wet market in Wuhan. We have about 90 routes in our office, and maybe 30 carriers right now to deliver them. That means routes are neglected, some for days. Mail is piling up past the event horizon of being impossible to sort and get out of the building.

The Plant that provides the mail is, thankfully, suffering the same fate otherwise we'd be overwhelmed at the office level. Stories are told of Trailers upon trailers parked there with endless mail on it unable to be processed.

Every day mail continues to be collected and sent to the parking lot where it will remain what seems to be indefinitely.

If you have 45% staff and they know they are coming in the next day to handle 3x the work, you can expect even more to say "fuk dis" and bail. So by the end of the week, only the most money-hungry, mindless Jonestown PO types to remain and management is in deep, deep denial/cognitive dissonance....hell, it might even be a form of shock.

I keep going because I work midnights and I'm still able to do my part to keep parcels moving. Oh, that's the only thing going out today...parcels and letters from Monday. We didn't receive any letters from the plant today.

They want a "clean start Monday" but if the plant is somehow able to get it all to us, we'll have 4 days of accumulation per route.

It's insanity, it's unworkable, and nobody will admit it or think ahead beyond the next 12 hours.
