Yeah, I'm a bit baffled by CA, too.... here in the Bay Area, we're still doing kind-of ok, though people haven't exactly been playing by the rules. Some wear masks, but many don't. It's So Cal that is getting slammed so badly, in terms of case numbers. As I posted earlier, I think we probably got hit a lot harder, earlier on, than the numbers reflected.

Testing was very slow to come to CA ... and given that we have two international airports, and we had a lot of people coming in from Asia (as well as other places) just as this was getting started, I suspect our numbers looked artificially low until very recently.

I know a couple of people who work in hospitals, and they were saying that they were seeing a lot of patients whom they believed had COVID back in January (and even earlier) -- but the patients couldn't be tested, so the causes of death were listed as viral pneumonia, or some other vague illness. I think we've been a huge hot-spot since the beginning, and it was just never recorded as such. Now, we're seeing more people getting tested and the numbers are starting to show a more accurate picture.

I remember when I was permanently 40 pages behind... until late April.

Which reminds me. Back when I was doing a bit of looking into the mink end of the saga I read several stories of how minks escape all the time from farms. One guy said anyone who lives anywhere near those places has found them rummaging around. He said he’d found them in his garage twice.

Minks, from what I read, are such nasty little fellows that they have no problem attacking and biting animals way bigger than they are - like cows and horses.

You have four or five rooms? That's awesome. I only have a one-bedroom. The intention was to get a storage unit, but those have been closed down, and I want to keep my things close by in case of emergency. But I am making do. I got tired of the Amazon boxes everywhere, so I ordered some Walmart moving boxes and have re-organized almost everything.

It looks nicer, I know where things are now, and if anyone needs to come in here (for maintenance purposes), it just looks like we are moving.

The 21st century products maybe winding down... but even if I had the funds, I just couldn’t handle that. It was stressful enough make sure the food was past a years supply. Just because I dislike clutter.

The basics... like little man has clothes, shoes, winter coat.... enough for at least two years. Those things don’t take up space when you have the military roll on your side.

But damn.... I have never had three gallons of vegetable oil in my life. Or a gallon of olive oil. Or gallons and gallons of bleach....
