None of us do. It's just that we believe the burden of taking precautions at this time outweighs having millions of people falling victim to a horrible disease.

We are all frustrated, no one knows if things will ever return to normal, where we can ditch the masks and sit face to face with our friends and family.

We hope to get through this disease alive and healthy, that's why we are dealing with the horrible hand we have been dealt without going all-in on the "it's a hoax" strategy and ending up very sick for life, or totally busto.

I am sorry that you feel that way. While I try hard to not let certain tools get to me.... I don’t tolerate their inability to understand the seriousness of this virus.

That was not an option. I asked. Someone I work closely with has tested positive, and the entire office is shut down and working from home for two weeks. Those of us who have had contact with that person were told this morning to get tested.

I'm going to post this little rant to get it off my chest, then I'm going to go take some Xanax and go to bed.

I am pretty much completely isolated at work now. Most of my "friends" at work are not talking to me anymore except when they need to for business because they all think I'm some sort of a crazy man preaching about the end times. The president of the company is avoiding me and demanding that I show him all of the precautions I want to put in place are part of a government mandate, otherwise he won't do it. Spent the whole day in my office and ate lunch alone, which never happens. Which I guess is good for vector control. But still... People I've worked with for YEARS are treating me worse than a bunch of strangers on the Internet that I've only really gotten to know over the past six months or so. How sad is that? I guess it takes a genuine crisis to find out who your friends really are or aren't.

The HR director, who used to be one of my best friends ever, has for some reason turned into a total bitch and refuses to share COVID-related information that affects the company with me. The company has known about a probable positive case at our other plant location since last week but no notices have been sent out for employees to avoid going there. I'm not even being told if he tested positive or not, just that it's "none of my business." How in the hell is that none of my business???

In one way, it's depressing as hell. But it's also kind of liberating. I no longer feel responsible for their health and safety, even though that's my job. I figure I'll just hole up in my office for the next 4-6 weeks until SHTF and things close down again. Then come home and bask in the glory of all my preps. How fucking pathetic is that? The only joy I'm getting out of my job now is knowing that I'll be proven correct eventually. JFC.

I'm of the opinion, and that's all it is, that one or more of the sailors replied, when asked if they'd stayed isolated for 14 days prior to sailing, "yes, of course" rather than risk losing their job. Their reality may have been very different up to and including a "last night on shore before heading out to sea"...
