As of yesterday Gov is extending Phase 2 by two weeks. According to this news story the WH task force urged stricter guidelines short of another stay home order. He opted not to follow their advice

NEW ORLEANS - Orleans Parish public school students will not return to the classroom when school re-opens in August. And here's why: Eyewitness News has charted the number of positive cases reported in Orleans Parish since the start of Phase 2 last month. The number of cases each day has been going up from the teens last month, to around 50/day a few weeks ago.





I live in a different Parish and while I don’t wish to bash anyone in the positions all of these leaders are in....it is extremely frustrating. There is still not a lot of info on how they plan to do schools here. There have been no answers to what they plan to do when a kid comes sick. There is no answer to the plan of if a child in class has been exposed or gets it....are they planning to quarantine the whole class? That will result in our family having to quarantine and miss work. We can’t Yo-Yo back and forth.

I signed mine up for virtual option and we are just waiting to make sure she’s accepted and cleared. At least by doing it this way I still have some control over who we are in contact with. We had to commit to a semester. Although we don’t know a lot of people...She is the only one that we know of that is doing it out of the people we know. I think I loose brain cells every time I read a parents post about sports or how if the kids do get it it won’t be bad bc they are kids. Well HELLO!! These kids don’t live alone. Some of these parents are in healthcare. SMDH. She has been ridiculed by all of these “friends” for the route we have chosen but I’d bet money that within a few weeks they will all be doing it virtually.

Again I hate to bash anyone making the hard decisions...I couldn’t do it because it is an impossible situation but I have a real problem with putting out “mandates” and “orders” but not enforcing them. When the Gov issued the Stay at Home he immediately followed up by saying he would not enforce it. I thought I was hearing things. I mean what is the point??? A couple weeks ago there were thousands of people crammed into Jackson Square but that was Ok because ya know we have to be PC.....and don’t ya know protestors won’t get the virus. I guess they are immune...pisses me off.

I’m not just thinking of the virus but all of the ramifications of the virus. You know like financial issues if we have to be out of work bc of exposure....being able to provide anything needed to my family if shelves are wiped out. Seems like no one around here thinks like that. Guess I’m just odd one out.
