You do know that there are multiple stories of people receiving antivirals and all it does is "abate" And later comes back and the use if antivirals causes the heart to go out. Front line doctors in wuhan leaked the information to the top Taiwan news agency. They have been using antivirals left and right already. This isn't news. It isn't even novel. One case doesn't mean it works for everyone.

I'll take my shot with my immune system. Freak antivirals. Those doctors who risked their lives to save others in China did all they could to get the message and information out to the public to grasp what was happening.

Regarding GILD the only reason it popped was the drug. Regarding Ebola, it does not eradicate it completely either. If I remember one of the first people to be treated from Ebola from it lost vision in one of his eyes and the eyeball membrane (not sure what you call it) still tested positive for ebola. (Note he did regain his vision though)

GILD shot up on speculation and multiple companies are doing double-blind studies testing antivirals in China. Not saying it is a bad stock play BUT very speculative.

I agree with what you said that China may just manufacture it as well; I believe China said they wanted to patent it (I remember reading it). As far as GILD it had a big spike up based on the name of the drug being in the news but with this past sell-off; no stock was safe. (Nor do I believe the sell off is over).

note: if it were as effective as they made the Washington Case then there would be more news on it.

I still think this virus is mutating way to fast... that is what scares me. We throw the best we have at it, in regards to antivirals, and there is no news that any of it is working. The first case studies out of China (on the first 99) basically showed that the antivirals did no do much.

I like that this is a treatment and not a vaccine. Sounds like a long way to go and a lot can and probs will happen before the end of April, but it's a start :)

The market is going to dig a big hole tomorrow.

This drug seems pretty legit though. Hopefully the side effect you described can be quantified and mitigated.

Article about it's use in animal trial on another deadly virus.

It screws with RNA, so maybe the side effect is related to another virus being present at the time of treatment, or perhaps screwing with virus RNA sequence inside your body is a risky move.
