Bristol Covid variant could reinfect Brits who’ve been vaccinated with fears it could ‘rip’ across UK, Sage expert warns...

Professor John Edmunds said the mutant strain could also reinfect those who have caught the bug before - as he warned it would be "very dangerous" to let the virus rip through Britain.



The Bristol strain emerged last week- along with another Liverpool variant.

It developed directly from the Kent strain and now includes a mutation called E484K, allowing the virus to evade vaccines more easily.

Prof Edmunds told ITV's Robert Peston: “I don’t know whether the Bristol variant is any more transmissible than the Kent variant - I suspect it isn’t."


But "the real worry," he said, was the strain's potential to reinfect.

He added: “Where it has an advantage, potentially at least, is that it may be able to reinfect people who have been previously infected or have been previously vaccinated - that’s the real worry with that particular virus.”



The mutation present in the Bristol strain is already found in both South African and Brazilian coronavirus variants.

It is being closely monitored by Public Health England.

Meanwhile, Professor Edmunds last night warned it would be "very dangerous" to let the virus rip through Britain after vaccinating the most vulnerable groups.

He also said some Covid measures would remain "probably forever" although he hopes we will be "more or less free of this" by the end of the year.

But seeing as the vacs do work on that, this will die out, and the Sa, Brazil or the new UK one will take the lead since it will be able to infect people who have been jabbed

So here is an update to this: wife's sister and her husband went to urgent care yesterday and got rapid tests done which both came back negative. Since it has only been 3 days since exposure, I am not sure they would have had time to fully seroconvert and show up positive yet. I explained that to my wife and she gets it. It appears we are going to postpone visiting them.

I have been following this thread since day 1 and am struggling with the apparent dismissal/ignoring of theraputics like Ivermectin by our governments, medical establishments etc.

I know many of you will know this stuff already, but this should be a handy format for you to 'spread the word'.

Covid-19 was probably circulating in France as far back as November 2019, French researchers have found in a study that challenges the theory that the pandemic originated in a market in Wuhan, China.

Work by French scientists, published on Saturday in the European Journal of Epidemiology, suggests that the original strain of coronavirus was being spread in the country prior to the identification of the December outbreak in China.

Paraphrasing: Ivermectin works in two ways...
1) Stops/slows entry of the virus into the cells in the first place.
2) If a cell does get infected, Ivermectin denies the virus the raw materials it needs from the cell nucleus.
