Found an interesting riddle on the internet; I think it has something to do with the covid epidemic but I can't quite figure it out:

Once upon a time in a large village whose name has been lost over time, there was a factory that made doofers.

The factory was very large and was the only factory that made the doofers. Thre were very many staff making the doofers and they had targets of how many doofers they made a day.

It was very important to make the doofers because all the people needed doofers, without doofers their health failed and many died.

In the factory there was also a department which saw the customers who needed the doofers and told them how to use the doofers. This was the only place that people could go to find out how to use the doofers.

It was very important to see the people who needed to use the doofers face-to-face because by email or by telephone they might misunderstand instructions and be unable to use the doofers and would then become very ill and might die.Even by videophone, showing them how to use the doofers was not a success.

Although people could be given instructions by telephone or email and lots did understand, in the main, the sort of people who needed the doofers were often people who needed a lot of time to be shown very slowly how to use the doofers, by actually putting the doofers on them.

The factory prided itself on never closing. Even when a bomb dropped on the factory and destroyed part of it, the factory kept going. Even when Doofers were in short supply, and the parts were in short supply, the factory searched the world for doofers that had been forgotten in sheds and attics, and got those to the people.

The factory had a target for how many people were shown, face to face, how to use the doofers.

One day there was news of an illness in the community. The factory kept going - after a while they used masks and they kept going.

But after a while of this they started seeing fewer and fewer people and started only emailing the instructions to people or talking to them about the doofers over the telephone.

They kept the equipment they needed to show people the doofers, in their factory, because they were first told in a year, then in two years, then in five years, they would be going back and doing things face to face again. It was vital that they went back at some point because they knew that there were people dying because they did not understand how to use the doofers because they were not being shown as they had once been able to be shown how to do it.

And then, one day, the factory workers were told that the factory would no longer be there. The doofers would possibly be made by other enterprising factories but nobody knew for certain. The workers were told not to retrieve the equipment as the doofers would never again be demonstrated face to face.

The workers knew what this meant for the factory and were very sad. They knew that for the factory to drop its targets and lose its income, something very serious must have happened.

They continued to try to instruct people how to use the doofers by email and telephone but they wondered how much longer they could continue now that no more doofers were being made. They wondered what would happen to themselves should they ever need a doofers . They wondered what would happen to the people who needed a doofers t in the future now that no more were being made, and they had searched and searched and found what must have been the last available forgotten ones in the world.

Most importantly, they knew what this meant in terms of the illness that was raging through the village.

I have to admit, I am tired of this riddle. Its not that I dismiss it but someone has to have figured out what it is by this point.

Anyway, I guess we aren't smart enough

This entire line of thought, and the people fascinated by it, remind me of a bunch of third graders.
