In the beginning I just spend $500 on food preps, topped up on pasta, sauces, canned goods for about 2 months worth but now in light of further information, moving to stage two prep with medical, bleach, peroxide, bandages, canning supplies, seeds for a potential 3 year or longer SHTF scenerio, just responding based on current "run-time" developments.

Speaking for myself, a long time GLP'er, and a doom porn'er since '94', preparing, no one will listen to me anymore anyway. After-all, I have never been right about anything. Why would anyone listen now!?

ntm, i'm old and decrepit now, from preparing. I'm in to much pain and to tired to get out of my bed and/or chair most days. All that I have and am ready for is and was all done in vain.

I'm ready to go home now. Others will thrive and survive on my works.

That whole proximity of the Bio-Lab to the seafood market is troubling.

Because the Chinese government would lie and blame it (the origins) on the market, and not the weapons lab as the source of the virus.

So the public would then believe this to be just another SARS-type pathogen, not a highly-weaponized one designed to kill off one's enemy or nation.

If this thing is truly fast-mutating as they claim, then no forthcoming vaccine shot will be effective. A waste of money and hope.

And then this becomes the Spanish Flu of 2020...

I find the China situation concerning but im not ready to guarantee Armageddon like some of these other people.

You have to understand..... we don't know you. You are a person that may have a company or a lot of stock in a company that would thrive in a situation where there is a pandemic or fear of pandemic.

That being said, I am a pediatrician in a central state in the US. I work at a small hospital. Two to three weeks ago, we had an unprecedented number of children coming to our facility with severe respiratory symptoms. Some we were able to admit and some needed to be transferred to a higher level of care. The problem was that all the hospitals in the state had the same issue to the point that all the Children's Hospitals and many other tertiary care hospitals with Pediatric ICU's in the entire state were on divert for new patients and we had to transfer patients to hospitals in the surrounding states if we could find one that also was not on divert. I had to call 5 different hospitals for patient before I found one in a neighboring state that would accept the patient, who then had to be transported via helicopter due to distance, not acuity.

We knew that these kids were sick from influenza, RSV, Human Metapneumovirus and other common and well known viruses. It has just been a particularly bad respiratory season for children this year.

If we ever had a pandemic influenza or if this Coronavirus is as serious as your family member and you say it is, then we do not have enough regular and ICU beds in the US to handle it in many areas.

I hope this is just a tempest in a teacup as are many "Uncle Intels' on GuLP. But at some point, it could be the real thing.

My advice is eat lots of healthy fruits and veggies, stay well hydrated, and stay away from crowds.
