Dad not listening about this virus, depressed me for a bit
I called my dad in southern cali. He is in mid 70's and so is my step ma. I told him about the seriousness about this virus, and suggested he pick up extra supplies/food before he loses the chance as this thing is going fast.

He told me, "Oh well, god will take care of us."

(It is nice he believes in the lord, but it is not good to be lazy or ignorant of the circumstances
His one-size-fits-all answer did irritate me)

I then asked, "Is your faith that strong?"

He answered a firm yes.

I then asked, "Then why did you get a flu shot late last year?"

He was silent for a long time and I broke the silence by asking him to please be safe, as if god doesnt think it is (dads) time to go, then he's gonna appreciate having things to hold through the coming tough times.

This depressed me a few moments, but I realized it is his choice as I have my choices, too.

I would just like to have him in my life a lot longer.

Re: Dad not listening about this virus, depressed me for a bit
Called dad last night to see how he was doing. He is sick.
He said he fell out of bed, had very bad chills, but was running slight temperature of 100.8

He said also his step son was sick a couple weeks back (step son works as pharmacy tech). Step son seems to be ok enough to go back to work.

Posting here as I may want to check on this as I find out others get sick, and we can see at least what the symptoms are, and times sickness either gets worse or beter.

Sounds like my dad

Tried to give him a few tips... His response "we're all gonna die anyways"

Parents are stubborn

Not gonna tell you it gets any easier

Just be glad he’s still functioning on his own

Watch his back

He doesn’t even comprehend how dark this world has gotten

My dad told me years ago that the older he got the calmer he became about death. Said he could tell his body was winding down and mentally he was just plain tired of the struggles that old age brought on. I guess like a lot of things in life you don't understand until you go through it. Don't worry too much about your Dad just love him.
