And I've seen the upcoming food crisis thing here every year since. Floods here in the midwest last year that were supposed to make beef and corn practically extinct according to all the threads posted here. Few years ago it was the army corp flooding the levees along the mississippi. Quoting: MrBlack indeed MR. Black!! same here! But I did get some extra rations and a little more prepared than most. |

We’re Not Hearing About It Should there be actual shortages of food, there would be a need for some sort of food rationing. That would be a function of the USDA (US Department of Agriculture), who would be responsible for putting some sorts of controls in place, ensuring that the food which our farmers are producing would be properly allocated, so that everyone’s needs would be met. read Can The Food Run Short? There are places in the world today where food shortages are the norm. I’ve had church pastors from other countries in my home, who have told me about the people they bury, even children, because they’ve starved to death. This is a very real problem in a number of different countries. It’s not something made up by non-profit organizations, to try and get your money. Are we going to run into that problem here in the USA? We could, but we probably won’t. As a country, we produce something like 180 billion tons of food per year. Of that, about a third actually goes to waste, not ending up on anyone’s dining room table. read.. read,and,read...and... Actual food shortages would mean riots in the streets. The snowflakes would be killing each other over the last Big Mac. The cities would burn. This could be a cleansing scenario, but it would be expensive. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the rest of us would go on with life. |

I MILKED CQWS for 40 years, for the last 4 years 3 times a day. You couldn't pay me enough money to milk another cow ! Farm life is not easy, but it,s good family life. How many of you have spent your 45th birthday helping your hubby butcher a cow at 1 in mourning with cast withers, to save the meat for your family. Subsides are bull shit Trump ! We bought a roll of wire for our welder, cost $122 plus $22. more tariff. He claims we are getting all this tariff money, we are paying the tariffs. A local saw mill ordered new blades ,the tariff was an extra $9oo . A worker commented well you voted for him, long pause with no comment. The dairy industry in Wi. would go out of business if migrants were not here. U.S. kids don't want to milk cows or shovel shit. Ashley Furniture would go broke with out migrants. We crop now, but it isn't cash cropping , there is no cash in it , but that's what farmers do! Trump signed the China trade bill, corm dropped 40 cents and soy 60 cents. They agreeded to buy a 3rd of what they used to. Like a friend says, go buy a farm and see if you are rolling in subsides and money. The rest of us don’t even bother thinking about it. After all, there’s always food in the grocery store… lots of food. There always has been and there always will be, right? But what if they can’t? What if, for some reason, the farmers in this country can’t produce the food needed to feed our population, let alone all the other countries in the world that buy $159 billion in American food products? What will we do then? We may very well be facing that problem in the very near future, a top one percent farmer warns. Between late planting of grains, especially corn, in 2019 and an unusually dry growing season, US grain harvests were low in 2019. This is on top of low production of vegetables due to the ongoing droughts in Southern California. What this means is that the “excess” food in the “pipeline” has all disappeared in a period of about four months. While we are not yet in trouble, we’re teetering right on the edge. All it would take to put us into food shortage, is for a low harvest level in 2020, either through drought, natural disasters, an early winter destroying crops or another late planting season. What’s scarier than the potential of food shortages in the near future, is that we’re not hearing about it. Nor does it seem that the USDA is hearing anything about it. Nothing is being done to prepare for potential shortages, because the people who should be dealing with that don’t have any idea of what is going on. They seem to be kept in the dark and nobody seems to know who is hiding that news. read... Prices will just go up and you will not buy as much. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 47090265 United States 02/17/2020 09:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This argument is retarded. We pay farmers not to grow crops. All we have to do is stop paying farmers not to grow crops, and guess what, they will start to grow crops. Gee, I wonder if that will increase the amount of food they make when they grow more crops? |

When I was growing up, all the fruit-picking, cow-milking, manure-shoveling, and hay-baling on US farms was done by the local kids. Those jobs were coveted because you didn't have to be 16-years old to work them, and they paid pretty well, better than a paper route or any other job that a kid younger than 16 could get. |

All we have to do is stop paying farmers not to grow crops, and guess what, they will start to grow crops. Gee, I wonder if that will increase the amount of food they make when they grow more crops? They're paid not to grow crops because the land needs to lie fallow from time to time. If farmers can't afford to give the land an occasional rest, it depletes the soil too much. So the government subsidizes the farmers while their land is resting. |

There are diseases out there which could take down the entire wheat harvest. The lack of genetic diversity in our agriculture practices leave us vulnerable to this. China could do this to us if they wanted to. There has also never been a time in history when there was less redundancy built into the food system. We now have fewer and fewer growers producing for larger and larger amounts of people. yep, thanks to defense policies.like i said, thats about to change.a complete 180. otherwise,i will break the men in charge.right now those men are doing the right things.i monitor them very closely.im proud of what they are doing.if im wrong, ill admit it,so far im not wrong. we should all be aware though and prepared to raise hell if things go south.its the only thing that gets their attention. possibility 2029 whith china it.s now, prepare, pray. beau voir |
