A virus called Wuhan-400 makes people ill … in a Dean Koontz thriller from 1981. How is it that some books appear to prophesy events?”

The Eyes of Darkness, a 1981 thriller by bestselling suspense author Dean Koontz, tells of a Chinese military lab that creates a virus as part of its biological weapons programme. The lab is located in Wuhan, which lends the virus its name, Wuhan-400. A chilling literary coincidence or a case of writer as unwitting prophet? ...

Huxley's Brave New World, written in 1931, talks of test tube babies, a concept unheard of, and of scientists altering the babies' brains to create intelligent Alphas and moronic worker Epsilons - vaccinations?

The same way Matt Groening predicted things with the Simpsons.

Nice call back to all the discussions about this back when it all started! So basically, the virus in the Koontz book is the wrong kind of virus, and picking Wuhan as the source is like how they often pick NYC for doom movies.. Wuhan is a big name city that has the required labs, so it's the logical choice for a well researched realistic novel. There are many stories about viruses, many novels and movies.. one of them was bound to come close.

I personally think that some people read/watch things then put the plans into motion. Kind of like "Oh I have enough money to do this, but I never had the imagination to do it. This should be a fun way to make chaos."
We all can read minds. Just listen.

Eyes of Darkness

The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
No man can serve two lords: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
