In Nordic countries we've had single-payer health care, free college, universal child care and so on since the end of WW2. Do you consider Sweden, Finland, etc. communists? I'm not judging here. I mean obviously it's factually wrong to call that communism. The current prime ministers of both Finland and Sweden are Social Democrats. I suppose that's something Sanders claims to be. On the other hand it's totally valid political opinion to oppose free health care or college. It's just not communism if you made those political changes through parliamentary system and winning elections.

There is no way in this alternate reality that the DNC will back a Bernie nomination. Yeah my point was emphatetically NOT that you guys should or even could construct any of those systems I mentioned like free health care in the US. You're culturally too different from us for that to ever work. Also for that to work you'd need social cohesion to be over some treshold value. That means you don't mind paying higher taxes if you think the beneficiaries of those services that are paid by those taxes are figuratively speaking belonging to the same group as you culturally, ethnically or in some other way.

It's just that something isn't communism if you get the majority to support some policies in free and general elections. Obviously Bernie is never going to win so this is splitting hairs here but anyway.

Can anyone who wishes go to college or must you pass tough entrance exams?

Are you allowed to have huge families even if you're in poor health?

How do you handle those who don't want to work?

What's your solution to those who run up huge medical bills due to drug and/or alcohol issues? Or they participate in very dangerous sports or reckless stunts?

You have to pass tough entrance exams to get to college. For some particularly popular study programs the rate of admittance can be lower than 10%. Also if you for example wanna be an archeologist it can be lower than 5% since they aren't needed as much as engineers or doctors so the programs are small (not many people admitted yearly).

You are allowed to have huge families even if you're in poor health, but no one really does that. Women get the same education and contraceptives and abortion are readily available so no one is forced to have children unless they want to. (Educating women is the first thing to do if you want the uncontrolled birth rates down.)

Those people that absolutely don't want to work are not much of a big deal. Of course there are always free riders, but there really aren't that many of them to unduly burden the system. Structural unemployment is more of a problem. (People living somewhere where there are no jobs, not having relevant skills etc.) Generally the state and municipalities try to support families so no one ends up as a free rider. It usually isn't a conscious choice but due to adverse conditions early on life (school, family, etc.)

Drug and alcohol use is obviously a problem like everywhere else. Generally people are encouraged to get to some program where they can get some substitute stuff like methadone administered by health authorities. Some people kick the habit and at some point find some employment. Others die. You can't save everyone regardless of political system. People participating in dangerous sports are such a minority that in the grand scheme of things they don't matter. They get the same care as everyone else.
