Have you considered using sdbullion? Click on their "sell to us" button at the top. They will buy Junk silver for $-0.40 below spot which works out to around 2% below spot (which is the current fair price). Thats probably a better deal than a pawn shop. Good luck |
bro tim User ID: 77377605 United States 02/23/2020 11:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Need advice from a silvertard: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78450300 Hardworking solo mom here. It's been a rough year: just lost a parent my child moved out after college, then a year of injuries and illness. I've been (over the years) collecting small silver coin collection (prob worth @ 1000) huge emergency. Must sell after all this time. was hanging on to them to have something to leave to my child, but no choice. I don't own a home - have never had a credit card. I own nothing but my guitar and great memories. Any advice? Took coins to local coin shop and they were so mean and crude and only willing to pay less than spot and some coins are collectable. I did get my wonderful kid thru college last year but have never had the time to study coins. Any advice from you experts on how to sell pre 64 mint cond. fully silver coins? Have a lot on my plate and don't know where to start. thanks in advance. and to the trolls, please don't troll me cuz altho' I'm a tiny mom, I am a person of great faith and if you troll me, I will pray for you, and the Lord hears my prayers! to you believers reading this: grateful for any and all prayers for favor, work, housing and transportation. such a difficult time atm, but I know there is a blessing to come out of all this. Romans 8:28 where would I publish to sell them? I live in a remote area. grateful for your wisdom, you silvertards. I'm praying for you sister hang in there and remember Jesus loves you |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74525001 United States 02/24/2020 12:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hi OP! Here's a website you can go to to check out the current silver value of your pre-64 coins: [link to www.coinflation.com] For example, as of right now any dimes dated 1964 or earlier have a silver value of $1.3498 - say $1.35 each. Unless your coins have collector value meaning there is something about them that is attractive to a collector (rare, mis-struck) the silver value is probably the best way to determine what they are worth. Best of luck to you! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 76760905 United States 02/24/2020 12:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know some people sell coins on ebay. But if you don't have paypal you can't receive payment. Sadly, the truth is most coins are only worth the metal in the coin. You can go to coinflation.com to see how much real silver is in each coin. But numismatic value? That's probably not realistic unless the coin is really rare. |

Quoting: Moses Born Again in L.A. mahalo nui } I live on a tiny island there is only one shop, I just went there and they are kinda harsh. I walked out shaking and crying. It's really all I've got to sell for this emergency. I have 10 years invested in buying a coin at a time to have something for my son - to leave behind. This has been a really hard decision. Just need to find a way to get close to their value. that won't happen here at this one shop. and most of us locals that live here work 3 jobs and live paycheck to paycheck. So, don't think craigslist would be a good choice for this tiny short female. |

Good luck no, I've never heard of sd bullion I bought these for my son at different shops locally where we were living on the mainland, whenever my budget would allow. and some are true collection coins. thank you, this is good advice, I will follow up on it. |

Lastly, posting on eBay requires some work - you need to take pictures, make a nice writeup, answer a bunch of questions from potential buyers. I think if these coins fall under the category of Junk silver you will get very close to fair price for them by dealing with one of the many online precious metals shops like SDbullion or GoldMoney. Give them a call, they have pretty good reputations. |
American Mom (OP) User ID: 78450300 United States 02/24/2020 12:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Selling on eBay carries risks - the buyer may decide to fraudulently reverse the transaction or claim they never received the coins. While you go through a claim resolution with eBay/PayPal you're going to be out of the coins AND you have no cash. Eventually, if the buyer was a complete fraud, you will probably receive the insurance payment from eBay but I'm not sure how big of a sum they cover. Make sure you look into that before you take this path.
