How many thousands and thousands of elderly people die of "natural causes"? A lot of that is cold or flu. If they were more specific in classifying what those "natural causes" were, the numbers might look pretty scary too. |

Most cases are mild, a lot of people have no idea they even had it. We have a good idea of the numerator, but we have no clue on the denominator. Doomers can't have it both ways. They want a really high case number and a really high death rate. But a high case number dilutes the death rate into very non-doomy numbers. |

You don't want to be the guy needing the ventilator when they're all in use. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 58674618 Good question. I am looking into it. Right now my working theory is that COVID19 hits the elderly particularly hard. They require supplemental oxygen. It is beds with oxygen which may be hard to find. Furthermore even though it is comparable to the flu it is still an ADDITIONAL strain on the system. So if the system is designed to handle the same number of patients as last year, what happens when you suddenly increase that number by 10%, 20% etc? They are caught unprepared. |
