IF you have room you can place the whole grains into a refer or freezer for a short period of time, a week should do it. That kills off any insects and such that might hatch and ruin your flour once ground. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73690165 United States 03/19/2020 01:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I regularly buy 50lbs bags of feed wheat for my chickens. I find leaves, stems and an occasional bug in it. Before milling/grinding it, I would clean it well. You can put it in 1 gallon bags, and put in freezer to kill any crawlies. I usually will sprout it by soaking it overnight in water, then drain it, then rinse and drain twice per day. Once they sprout and have tails on them they are a lot more nutritional. Besides, sprouting them gives them a natural sweetness. I eat a couple of bowls per week with milk. Just keep on tinsing/draining and they will get long like Chinese been sprouts. If you want to make bread, beer, or wheat whisky, al you need to do is: sprout them and as soon as the tails are about 1/4 inch long, spread them out on a cookie sheet and dry them back out in oven before grinding. Makes grinding them a whole lot easier also! A good bread recipe is Ezekiel Bread or Essene bread Here's a link to a recipe: [link to www.allrecipes.com (secure)] Just put your favorite fruit in it, Yum! If you put some grapes the dough, don't wash the powder off the grapes. It's yeast and is good for you, plus it will make your bread rise. |
