He didn't even win the straw poll of his own state. He couldn't even beat a candidate who was not there and who has not declared his candidacy yet. Really sad. Quite embarrassing actually. Only delegates to the state convention were eligible to vote in this straw poll, and that is a really bad sign for Ron Paul. He is not reaching real Republicans. In fact, he isn't reaching the ones that ultimately will decide his fate -- the delegates. Based on reports I read, Ron Paul had a large following of out-of-state supporters at this event making it appear he was the man of the hour. His campaign managers must not get it. Juist because you create the impression you have a large following, it does not automatically incline the delegates to give a damn. Apparently the Ron Paul message is not sinking in with the people who will ultimately determine the Republican nominee. |

They were unable to vote. That would have made Ron Paul the winner. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 289902If there was a busload of people, then they were possibly from another state and were not delegates. They could not vote anyway. Either that or they couldn't afford the $50 fee to vote. |
