It all only makes sense if you know it by design and who did it.

It is really hard to find “how much of America do foreigners own” info on the internet. The closest I came was an article from 2016 by marketwatch suggesting less than 50% in most asset classes, but it was cagey about exact numbers or definitive statements to that effect. Perplexing.

Stock market investors loves high unemployment because they figure that people will be so desperate that they will work for lower wages, and they think that means for profits for shareholders.

The uber wealthy individuals, foreign countries (i.e. China), and other wealth laden organizations, are all buying like crazy.

They know this is temporary and they look at things long term.

Supposedly China unloaded 36% of its US real estate late last year according to one source I can no longer find. If they are now buying it back at slashes prices that would be...interesting to say the least.

Now if you are just talking stocks and not real estate too that might be a different story. Either way I’m curious.
