yes they made good money but 5 weeks without pay check
you have no money! cars and phones you had before you lost jobs you would still have at this point.
 Quoting: tbear4

It's only been 3 weeks, and if they didn't have any money saved or food put aside, then why do they have luxuries like nice cars, cellphones, etc.?

They probably have 3-4 65" OLED TV's at home, a boat or two, eat out 4-5 times per week, subscribe to all the premium sports channels, etc.

Any available food should be for the truly destitute first, and then what's left over can be handed out to the "I don't know how to manage my money" crowd.

You guys better hope people don't have this same attitude towards you and your families if/when you find yourselves in this same situation soon enough.

If I operated a food bank with huge lines. I would have staff pass out kids snacks down the line.

Kids waiting in cars during stressful times while hungry is a parents nightmare.

Most white folks would be too embarrased or ashamed to line up at a food bank -- they would have to be literally starving to do such a thing.

But blacks and hispanics...

...any time someone annouces free stuff, they're lining up.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40169223

Our family moved to Texas in '69, we live just outside the San Antonio city limits.

I'm 61, white with very little money and only a few supplies and my old van doesn't run right now.

The big food giveaway or anything helpful is always given out on the far south side or far southwest side of San Antonio.

Never anything for people on the North or North east side.

The south side is over an hour drive to get to it at Trader's Village.

The south side and west sides of town are almost completely Hispanic.

The local joke about BMW cars here is that it's an abbreviation for, "Big Mexican Woman" as they are the most common drivers here.

No one even delivers food to the needy where I live and without a running vehicle in Texas and no kids or friends to rely on I will be running out of prepped supplies by the end of April.
I prepped as much as I could afford.

Life's been ok up to now, and at my age, the sooner I leave this rock, the better.

My folks raised me with pride to never take handouts or welfare from any thing or anyone.
I'm not about to start now.

Meanwhile, due to the decline in demand from restaurants and schools U.S. farmers are letting millions of pounds of crops rot in the field, washing millions of gallons of milk down the drain and trashing millions of eggs.

Gooofy assed system.

Its all a bunch of Fat Mexis you better believe it!

This is San Mexi-tonio

All of their vehicles are newer and these people do not 'need' the food

Its just more welfare

I buy my own food even though im almost broke and have a 22 year old vehicle i keep running.

In fact near where i live there are many older homeless people with nothing but a bicycle, backpack, and that is about it!!

You can get some for yourself and give some to people you know are running out. There is nothing wrong with going to food banks if you really need it. And if you know others who need it but can’t get in line for it.

Strange, our local San Antonio news reported that there were 10,000 families lined up. Someone isn’t being honest.

5. Between April 12, 2009, and April 10, 2010, the CDC estimates swine flu caused 60.8 million illnesses, 273,304 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths in the U.S.

6. On Oct. 5, 2009, the U.S. began administering a newly approved H1N1 vaccine to select Americans, with vaccination coverage expanding nationwide by that December.

7. WHO declared an end to the pandemic on Aug. 10, 2010.

10 days ago USA had 8000 deceased, they were saying the death cases double every two days, if that was true, now we'd have 200000 dead, get the vibe, nothingburger style, open business' up

I have been told by people who work those days at the food banks that a lot, not all, of those people have the nicest clothes, nifty new cell phones, and mostly new cars or trucks.

They worked there for one day once a month during free food days, and were appalled at the BS that was happening. This was during the "good" times. AND, it was in a small rural town in the lower NW section of one of the poorest states in the USA, NM.

When he asked about it several months in a row … he was told to go home and not come back … EVER by the old hag running the show.

Ya just can't understand the people and the free sh.t army group.

Many people don’t plan well at all. Hopefully this scare will change some people for the better. Children should have 3 meals a day. Adults can get by with one or two. Many adults have high blood pressure and diabetes from overeating. Losing weight would be a plus in so many ways.

It is better to try to keep people fed then to have them break into homes and riot. And yes we don’t know the situations of these people. If they have enough and are greedy karma will take care of them. But if they are really destitute with hungry kids then feed them. There is nothing keep whites from benefiting as well.

Ok, not saying you're wrong about Americans priorities, but alot of people who lost their shirts in the Great Depression had family farms, a good-paying banking job, stocks, nice cars, all sorts of wealth that evaporated soon after. Not everything is lost overnight.

If everyone was used to living frugal and poor already then depressions wouldn't be so devastating to millions.

I have difficulty walking so meeting new neighbors is impossible.
If I exhaust my supplies I guess my only option would be to phone the police department but that again would result in a welfare/hand out.

You are in more need than the 6000 nice cars who had enough gas to get to the food bonanza and back. You actually are in need and should swallow your pride and call the local police or food bank or churches. They will bring it to you and they will feel a heck of a lot better doing that for you than delivering to so many people who do not NEED it yet.

We have come to this over 15,000 deaths?

This shows you that the cure is worse then the virus

The virus will kill some, maybe a few hundred thousand

The cure, no jobs, no food, no money, this will eventually kill millions

So, to all of the people who wanted to hype this virus and spread fear of a virus that isnt that bad, you will be part of the collapse of the world and many, many more deaths then this virus would have caused

There is no way in a logical world this virus could cause this much panic

It makes no sense

This is why I believe that this virus is being used as an excuse to usher in the Antichrist to power

The bible says, the World will have to be in a state of chaos, in such a desperate state that when one person will come and offer a solution to the worlds problems, starvation, disease, homeless, jobs, money etc... that the whole world will accept this person's solutions and make this person the leader of all nations

This person will succeed and make the world better again, after 3 and half years this leader will then push the mark of the beast on to the world, With the help of the false prophet

This is what I believe this virus is covering up

No other explanation for the world to shut down over a weak as virus

Thursday began with 1 million pounds of food on hand at Traders Village delivered by 25 tractor-trailer rigs. But with so many unexpected thousands and food running out, Cooper made the call to the Food Bank warehouse to send in more trucks loaded with food.

“This hurts because I’ve always given and now we are on the other side,” said Benavides, who is disabled and cares for four grandchildren ages 6 through 17 with her husband, a recently laid off charter-bus driver.

“It would be rice and beans without this,” Benavides said.

“We are now at a level where we are having to buy food, and dollars are going very quickly,” Cooper said. “The $12 million from the state will help us stock our shelves with peanut butter and soups and chili and stew and rice and beans and corn and green beans and all of those staple items families need in their pantry to nourish their family.”

Ok, not to be conceited, but anyone with half an ounce of sense should have seen this coming. DH went off to another state in February acting like there would be no lockdown, etc and said he would be back if things got bad. (We winter sometimes in the South.)

I was glad to see him go because that left a clear path for me to make tons of trips out to the stores to stock up on canned foods, some fresh and medicines. He comes back late February and complains about all the money I spent but he isn't complaining NOW. (So, yes, I guess you could say DH has no sense.)

Anyway, all these people with nice cars and phones, etc. - if they didn't live beyond their means, they would have sufficient funds to buy the stuff they are getting for free.

I wouldn't doubt many of them are out there getting stuff for free because they can (just like State governments are doing), not because they need the free stuff.

I don't feel very sorry for them. Now, if you are on a limited income, that is another thing, but those greedy, rich buggers are taking food that should go to the less fortunate.

Sadly, a lot of them have probably been using this service as a grocery store for years.

I'd be willing to bet, more than half were getting free food long before this Chinese virus hit AND getting EBT as well.

Until March 13' I worked in the office at an urban school. Kids and their mothers talked about doing it. And proudly!

Never assume by the outside looks of something or someone.

You can dress up a homeless person to make them look like a millionaire .... but they will still be homeless.

Lots of people who are poor will try their hardest not to visibly appear poor. Mainly because they dont want to be categorized as poor. And also because it brings lots of personal shame.
