Adjacent facilities take the airspace in the interim. We're all organized into separate crews and there is no overlap in the crews aside from 10 minutes when two controllers overlap to pass the sectors to each other. We're kept apart, so if it was ZDC that went down it will be back as soon as they disinfect the area. Amazingly the FAA and NATCA actually did a decent job of coming up with this system to prevent a complete loss of the National Airspace during this crisis.
