Texas Lt. Governor calls for reopening economy because: ‘There are more important things than living’

During an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show this Monday, the lieutenant governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, doubled down on previous comments where he said returning the state to work in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic is worth risking people’s lives.

Parts of Texas are reopening this week in the wake of the economic devastation brought by the lockdowns, and Patrick told Carlson that he was right all along.

“When you start shutting down society and people start losing their paychecks and businesses can’t open and governments aren’t getting revenues…I’m sorry to say that I was right on this,” Patrick said.

“I’m thankful that we are now beginning to open up Texas and other states because it’s been long overdue,” he added.

“There are more important things than living, and that’s saving this country for my children and my grandchildren and saving this country for all of us,” Patrick declared.
