People's health is also being wrecked due to hermit-like lifestyles, stress from a collapsing economy and deferred treatments for things like dental decay or heart disease.

I admit there is a risk of an opened-up of the system causing SARS-CoV-2 to increase to a ER-busting size. But you need to admit that the alternative of a destroyed national and world economy is no panacea either.

You're living in a dream world.

For one thing, you're overly idealizing or even romanticizing the idea of vaccines. Look up the history of the ineffectiveness of things like annual flu shots or other vaccines. Treatment for HIV/AIDS has yet to reach a a-ha! level.

For another thing, you're placing the idea of preventing the spread of a virus as somehow totally disconnected from the good possibility that SARS-CoV-2 has been circulating in parts of the US even before January.

You're also forgetting that the most important reason for a lockdown is so that the medical facilities in a community are not swamped. We're now going on several weeks with a shutdown and hospitals have managed to not be swamped since February, much less back to January. Some, in fact, are reporting just the opposite.

People 55+ an older need to die off anyway for letting this country get to this point. I’m glad some of you will die for the reopening of the country. It will be ours not yours anymore then. My grandpa knows 9 people who died here New Orleans. I love how you think its a joke.

It has in several places. You just aren't looking at the right numbers. The "curve" has nothing to do with the total number infected. The "curve" has to do with the total number of new cases/deaths per day.

If you are going by the total number of cases or total deaths, of course the "curve" hasn't flattened, it never will by looking at that stat. That number will only keep going up. The only way that number stops going up is mandatory worldwide 24/7 lockdown for min a month but probably two. With breaking the lockdown being subject for immediate imprisonment. The only way you stop that number from going up is to keep people from moving around/meeting that can potentially spread it until every possible person that has it NOW is either cured or dead.

There is no way possible to do a world wide 24/7 lockdown, if the limited stay at home orders haven't already shown. Far too few are prepared to not exit their home for two months straight. And if everyone tried to prepare for a 2 months not leaving your house period lockdown total panic would ensue. Just look at what we had happening throughout March for an indicator. There's no where near enough food or other supplies in stores or thoughout the supply chain for people to purchase up over a week or two period to prepare for such a scenario. The only way such a scheme would work is if a vast majority of people were of the preper mentality and already had a stock of food and essential supplies at home and ready.

I do highly suspect that after we are past this, there will probably be more prepers and financial savers if people have any kind of intelligence. This won't be the last virus like this and it is well likely that this exact same virus flares up again at some point after the restrictions are lifed, leading once again to limited stay at home orders.

A vaccine? Iffy. Is there a vaccine for HIV? Its only been researched for 40 years now.

A treatment? Maybe we have some candidates, but people are still dying.
