I felt the same thing many times. Could always feel when notes were "wrong" and had to "find" them until the external and internal resonated.

I had a very bizarre and realistic dream about 4 months ago that I was visiting with George Jones and Tammy Wynette, neither one of whom I knew much about, and they were a bit before my time.

At the end of the dream, George Jones grabbed my hand and looked me right in the eyes, and then I woke up with a George Jones song in my head complete with lyrics, which I wrote down before I would forget them.

I became curious about them and ordered biographies on both which were pretty interesting. It turns out one of the lyrics said they both like the card game gin rummy, and they like to swim and fish.

I didn't even know what gin rummy was. I read in the books they both liked to play gin rummy and they liked their pools and would go fishing.

I believe music is all already out there, and musically talented people are able to pick it up and reproduce it.
