Pier 1 Imports To Close All 540 Stores After 58 years | |

User ID: 78930216 United States 05/19/2020 10:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The big box experience is over. What will win out are locally owned places for niche / boutique customer service / experience oriented shops. People are done going to Best Buy to get a fucking radio or speaker or even television. The Pier One business model is done. If you don't like it, prepare to endure a shit storm of pain because they're all going away. Same with your cash. Your gold bars ain't gonna save you either. The writing has been on the wall for a while and if you haven't seen it or refuse to accept it, you will be left out of the new economy. This shit happens every 80 years, it's not new. People bitching about all the Sears and JC Penny closings are the same people bitching about how dangerous cars were and how horses were the best option and they'd "never own a car". Get ready gang, you'll be supporting more local business and buying your mass produced shit on Amazon. You will be using crypto / blockchain based services and exchanges of value. You can say you won't but you'll just suffer. There are some of us out here that figured it out long ago, bought in, and are now just waiting for the other side to appear. The only problem, however, is these 80 year cycles are often surrounded with massive crushing war. What was the transition point for the previous two cycles? The Civil War, WWII. And not the Rona. That's the level of change that's about to happen. RAGE |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78538151 When the dust settles all we will have is Ikea, Walmart and Target. Bland crap, and what everyone else owns. Welcome to the "NEW WORLD". There’s world market and Home Goods. Maybe someone will buy pier one. |

There going to take away anything remotely interesting and different and leave us with Walmart, etc. I'm so disgusted. I agree. It’s terrible anymore. We gotta choose between iffy stuff from China sold at Walmart and iffy stuff from China sold on Amazon. Americans aren’t tough enough to take things back. They’re too comfortable in their rapidly-aging particle board suburban homes and stuffing their faces with comfort food and slapping their fat bodies together to give a shit about what’s coming. |

Quoting: Mason Firefly The bankrupt home-goods retailer has asked a court for permission to liquidate its remaining 540 stores once they reopen after coronavirus-driven lockdowns, ending a 58-year legacy of selling glassware, wicker furniture and other home decor. Anonymous Coward User ID: 78931365 United States 05/20/2020 12:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They wont be the only ones. Many many many many stores will be closing their doors for good soon and into the future. The entire house of cars is coming down and I have never been happier to ask it happen. Let chaos and anarchy ensue. Time for the pain. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78589210 United States 05/20/2020 12:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's too bad the liquidators always mark everything up to "full retail", more expensive than what it sold for new when the store was open. Then people take everything good when it's only 10-20% off, which is still higher than their actual retail after coupons and sales. Nothing left worthwhile after that. |
