That is pretty messed up, but....why couldn't a representative in person just say "I'm going to vote the same as New York"? That is, what does voting in person add to prevent this?

In this context, one person voting seven times would mean that someone from Maryland was present (a Democrap rep or one of their staff members), in the House of Representatives, and placed seven votes for people not present (proxy votes). The constitution requires congress to assemble, IN PERSON, in DC. IOW, proxy voting is unconstitutional and not allowed. Every proxy vote can be discounted, now, when votes are totaled. Piglosi won't do that, though, because she's 100% corrupt but the senate can refuse to even take up any "passed" bill from the house because of this - as they should. What Piglosi has set up is an unconstitutional rule where Democraps can be sitting on their asses on some beach in the Dominican Republic and have some staffer physically doing their voting for them in DC. Congress members are paid a 175K per year, plus lavish benefits and pension plans - and these scumbags want to be off elsewhere on the taxpayer's dime while some flunky covers for them and places their votes.

Commie sabatueors have degraded this country into an existential crises.

Doing it this way makes it about impossible to hold your Congressman responsible for his vote doesn't it? How are these votes recorded? Is there anyway to find out how his vote was cast? If not, this is highly unrepresentative and not OPEN.

Also, by not being in Washington on the Floor of the House, you can't do any Horse trading, or get sponsership or bipartianship for your own bills.

He shouldn't extend it. People won't go back to work as long as that is there. Regular unemployment benefits when the 600 expires.
Only exception I would make to that would be those that are forced into layoff because of exposure to virus or contracting it or family contracting it, should still be able to receive 100% of what they were making while they are quarantined.

Well, if the votes from the individual representative aren't RECORDED, you have no way of knowing which way your congressman voted and can't hold him responsible for his vote. So proxy voting can be used as "cover". I don't know if this is going on.

Another thing. Without being on the floor and engaging with other Representatives and listening to the speeches given, they can't be persuaded to vote another way. Much "trading" goes on in the House floor. Hey, if you support my bill, I will sponser yours. If you write a bill, it goes nowhere without sufficient sponsers. Proxy voting also puts a damper on bi-partisanship voting.

For years now you've known something like this was coming. How many years have you been warned to move out of the cities and get a rural property in a 2A friendly state?

This collapse of civilization has been entirely predictable. Many people have jumped to rural self sufficiency in the hope of preserving their family. But many others (like my nephew as an example) can't be budged out of their proximity to surfing and great weather, or their high paying job (just six more years til retirement!) or the fact that their kids don't want to leave their friends.

I have one friend who is staying put in urban California because she thinks the market will jump back up 'after COVID' and she will be able to sell her house for even MORE money. She doesn't think about other forces which might impact a move like tight credit, hyperinflation, mass un-employment, over-regulated cities, potential quarantines from hell in the fall, food shortages, riots....

So if you were ever thinking that you might want to get out of Dodge, you might want to stop thinking and start doing what needs doing. Much better to leave a year too early than an hour too late.

And here is the other reason she is doing this. Usually, and we have seen this many many times in the past, if a Senator or House member is absent from the Floor, THEY CAN'T VOTE. So, if a member is sick, that is one vote lost for his party. At times, votes have been delayed just for this reason because that person's vote was needed for the bill to pass. Just recently, Rand Paul was quarantined and couldn't cast votes in the Senate.

Nancy is trying to get around this. My guess is she has many Dems under quarantine right now and not wanting to "lose their vote" she has instituted "proxy" voting. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. She is using the virus to change the long held rules because she probably doesn't have the numbers now to win a vote in the House.
