My best friend is a police officer, and multiple tour combat veteran.

Last year, a mentally disturbed black man attacked him with a knife. Instead of shooting him, or even tasering him, he engaged him hand-to-hand and managed to get the knife away and subdue him, without any assistance.

He threw his back out and was in a lot of pain for several weeks... the other guy was 10 years younger and had 30 lbs on him... plus he was fucking crazy. Shit like this happens all the time, but it never makes the news. Only when things go bad do you hear about it.

Tonight, he's out on patrol with a fully automatic M16 at his side ready to go fearing for his life because of the actions of a couple of officers a thousand miles away.

George Floyd had several prior arrests for cocaine possession, and did time for robbing a woman at gunpoint. There's a pretty good chance he smoked a bunch of crack that day and had a heart attack due to the stress of being arrested.

He complained about not being able to breathe BEFORE he was pinned to the ground. That's why the EMTs were on their way.

I'm disgusted by the officer's failure to render aid when it was obvious that Floyd was in trouble, but it wasn't murder, and it's not worth burning down every major city over.

I bet you anything that the National Guard was not issued bullets.

A good friend of mine was NG and whenever they were activated for something like this they were issued weapons and magazines but no bullets.

A couple of officers had live rounds in their pistols but that was it.

I will. I'm currently blocking one lane of traffic to prevent any chance of some idiot trying to drive through the crowd. I've gotten no hostility from the protesters and even some nods and smiles.
