Something has been weighing on my mind for some time. I don't really believe in ghosts and have never seen one. Something happened once.

I was living in an older duplex house/apt at the time. The other side of the duplex was only used for storage by the landlord.

I realized that the landlord had given me a key to that apt and went in to check it out. It was strange, personal belongings scattered about like a family had lived there. Some things in the front for upkeep of the apt and yard but the rest of the house was like abandoned, dirty dishes in the sink clothes scattered about and toys, other personal belongings. Everything was old too, several decades old probably circa 1980's. Women's clothing and kids clothing just scattered everywhere. In the bathroom I found rags shoved into a trash bin and a dark substance on them. Everything about it was creepy and I just left and never went back in there.

Well, several months passed. It was now winter and rather cold outside. I had been running the loud AC in my bedroom during the summer so maybe I had never heard it.

I was awoken by what sounded like someone crying in the next door apt. It sent chills down my spine and I just layed their silently hoping for it to go. I couldn't explain it but it really bothered me. I got up and grabed my revolver and a flashlight and went outside to inspect the outside of the building. I never saw anything, had a cigarette and watched the full moon and then went back inside. My Cat was freaking out and was really alert for some reason.

I went back to the bedroom to try and sleep and didn't hear anything more that night or ever again. I still can't explain this and it has bothered me ever since.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?
