Just finding this Old Timer. I am so sorry this happened to her. It's my future and I'm dreading it, hip replacements. So very sorry for her. Just said a prayer for her. I hope it helps her. I will add her to my nightly prayers too.

Tell her, my brother had hip replacements, you have to sit with your legs straight out in front of you for a while because you can not twist the hip and the doc will tell her all this but this is a heads up to get some stuff ready. Some footstools and pillows and they want you to walk as soon as possible so move things around for room to walk and hold on to while she's walking. LOL Maybe get the bedroom set up so she can stay there for a few days, you know tv tray stand for meals and such. Although, my brother said they wouldn't let him leave the hospital until he walked. So you might want to ask her where she wants to make a nest for a few weeks.

Tell her, she's got this. Nothing to it. Just old folk problem of brittle bones. She will have to be more careful because a broken hip is common with brittle bones. I've had at least 2 old ladies in my family throughout the years do this. They were ok after healing and I didn't notice any difference in them except they started asking for more help when lifting stuff. Don't know if this is because they got used to it when they were healing or if they had to have help. I didn't mind helping them out when they asked me. I loved my Aunts and they always fed me. Excellent food too. I miss them so much....

Anyway. Good luck to her and I'm adding her to my prayers.

You all have been so wonderful...sadly I am not allowed to see her because of my and her ages....so we keep an open cell phone and computer connection going....she is very moved by the number of well wishers....she laughs saying she might have been a bit wrong about GLP form time to time....but when it comes to loving each other ....well she thinks you're the best
