This is rooted in the past competitive living. The drive to succeed is not necessarily predicated on IQ. While having a higher IQ than another high IQ individual will help in that matter of all other levels being equal. Having a higher IQ, but, less drive is worthless in a highly competitive environment. Ie politics.
IQ is just another dick measuring contest unless you realize it is worthless except as a status symbol. I am fine with it's use as that.
Just remember as with all things there is always someone smarter, faster, stronger than you. I was once the smartest in my extended family then my nephew was tested by doctors to better understand him and he has an IQ of 165.
