Besides, the organizations which rescue distressed hikers and hunters get a lot of their funding from hunting and fishing licenses. There are even laws which say that a rescued person can be charged for the cost of their rescue if they do not have a hunting or fishing license, but if they do have such a license their rescue costs are covered by the licensing organization.

A fishing license is fairly cheap, and can be considered "rescue" insurance for those who enjoy using the backcountry.

This is land specifically set aside for hunting. There are millions of acres where you don't need a hunting license to hike.

They made these zones to keep the hunters away from the hikers because the hikers were complaining... then they decided they wanted to hike where the hunters were too. So now they gotta pay just like the hunters.
