A whole bunch of master gardener insect pest management can be found, but smart to the point common sense ideas have already been presented. Next year, knowing you had an issue, pretreat the issue.

Start a gardener journal. Keep track of what you did and what works. That way, you family knows what to do.

In your region, there likely is a master gardener program and mentor resources. Those older folks are certified and enjoy helping new gardeners. They have them in all states and generally work with state agricuture departments and state universities. Your taxes paid for it, so you should get your moneys worth. Some are strict organic organic gardeners and most do not want to use toxic pesticides.
