Your statement is not quite accurate. Sociopaths (ASPD) are fully capable of self reflection. Those with Narcissistic and Borderline personality disorders are not.

Those with NPD and ASPD are devoid of "guilt", remorse or what one would call a "conscience". Those with BPD, guilt and remorse are fully selective, but since BPD is an info processing disorder (no, it's not an emotional processing disorder; that's secondary to cognitive disruptions), most of the time, they feel completely justified in their actions because they don't process objective reality accurately. They are 'functionally delusional' especially where identity is concerned.

Give me a "sociopath" who doesn't experience identity issues over a person with NPD or BPD or, worse, co-morbid BPD+NPD every... single...day.
