I had several buddies with high clearances - and eventually they all went nuts, made me wonder what the really do to them. Its like they have an expiration date. Nobody nowhere is above getting "cleaned up" either. We are basically just pieces of equipment used for a job and that's a mind warp too.

Relationships post Deployment/PTSD are excruciating. I gave up trying. I am female, so my perspective is different about spouse issues - My x was a Marine who never deployed during a 20 year career. My unusual combat experience brought me home unsuitable for partnership with anyone who does not have boots that hit sand - I am not going to argue with anybody about the reality of what I witnessed/experienced during my combat exposure.

Any Veterans reading this - I did get finally some relief with good Chinese acupuncture - but I told my practitioner most issues, despite a long list of body/physical issues - most were emotional. Like most Veterans and Emergency response types, I have that horrible upper shoulder mess - like we never take off the fucking pack and relax. Acupuncture helped me significantly and I am talking about after years of relief seeking. Outside therapy is also significantly better then anything the VA will offer. I wish I could hold the light for my brothers and sisters on the dark path. I don't wish it on anyone.

I will say this, my previous experience has made me take most of this Corona bullshit in stride - its the suck for sure, but hey, I know the suck, I've been in the suck, I can adapt to the suck.

You know what - after 6 deployments - it could have been incessant emotional abuse by "the wife" - who he needed support from, and who might not have been cut out to be the kind of care partner he needed, maybe it was a conflict with her that had him act in a bout of rage. I mean he killed himself IN FRONT OF HER.
That's rage, imo.

I am not saying this is the case here - but its not an unheard of scenario. I've lost 5 to suicide. 3 of those cases were definite acts of rage, one with nasty letters, one made a VHS tape of the event for his x, and even one on facebook live stream, during a temper tantrum about an x.
Another one in a fit of rage suicided by VA cops. Rage can be the finger that pulls the trigger long before depression even has a chance to sink in.

You are right he didn't just snap, it takes place over years of brutal murder and guilt mixed with extreme daily biological highs and lows ranging from total duldrum to immediate life-threatening peril within seconds.

They never re-stabilize and recover from it. They can never get any sort of comparable "high" again in civilian life again and then when all you have time to do is sit there and reflect on how you executed men, women, and children there seems to be only one way out.
