Universal housing would certainly make a whole lot more sense than universal basic income. And not just if you had to choose one over the other. I believe economically the difference would be negligible when factoring in current social program costs and the impacts it has on other areas (policing costs, healthcare costs, et cetera).

We're already making welfare recipients give 80% of their cheque so they can sleep in a shelter with 40 other guys, half of which are ex cons. The current system is ridiculous.
