Respectfully, it is a weapon of some kind.

What the Starlink satellites will end up doing, is trapping us here on planet Earth. It won't be possible to leave, after a couple of these satellites run into another satellite or each other.

A single satellite collision will result in another, as the pieces of the satellites involved disperse. Collisions will begin to increase exponentially, after only a few collisions. Pretty soon, the Earth will be surrounded by a cloud of satellite parts that eventually may become impossible to safely navigate through.

Oh, and astronomers? You think taking long exposure pictures of stars can sometimes be difficult now because of Starlink? Wait till the "parts cloud" is surrounding Earth. There won't be ANY long-exposure photography possible.

There will be nightly, pretty, meteor showers as tiny pieces burn up on reentry, though.
