Astromut, with respect, please help me get this right. As a small child, I was able to see all the live transmissions on our black and white TV here in the UK. There were some transmission breaks - for hours - but the broadcast was 'live', so we were all told. That's what made it so exciting, the nail bitting lift off and then great anticipation of the landing later on. How then, if broadcasting technology was not possible, were we able to see the crew on the Moon, live? It was one of the most memorable days I can remember from childhood, me and my dad transfixed. Was this all a lie? I always believed it to be the truth; the 'we' went to the Moon, walked on it and sent back live footage (all be it, with a natural time lag).

In all the images shown of the LEM I can’t seem to find one showing a camera on any of the landers legs.

By your own admission you were a small child. Your memory is fallible. They never had a live broadcast of the landing itself. You misremembered. The only thing they showed during the landing was whatever animation the broadcaster could come up with to illustrate what was happening. They carried audio but no video of the landing.
