How did they get all the undeveloped film safely through the Van Allen belts? Wouldn't the radiation on the moon effect the film in the camera as well?

Since Conan is pre-recorded, who would ever let this "slip" if there was some secret undercover cover up happening.

Also, who the hell cares anymore? What a waste of time conspiracy.

And I quote from astro(not) Buzz Aldin:

Conan:
Let's talk about this because this is fascinating.
I remember very clearly.

I think anybody who was alive at the time does.

I remember my parents waking me up
and we went down and we watched you guys land on the moon.

Buzz:
No you didn't, no you didn't.

Conan:
What?

Buzz:
Because there wasn't any television.
There wasn't about taking a picture.
You watched animation.

It starts almost immediately in this interview:

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77862243

Well I have the full broadcast and its true that during the descent, there were no cameras on the craft itself so they made animation to represent what was happening. It doesn't mean that they did not land or walk on the moon,

C'mmon Maaaan"

I know english can be hard..

There was NO camera on the moon to actually televise the
"landing" because they were the first there.

There was a camera on the lem. that opened with the landing legs and covered the ladder..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77376498

Can you please point out where the camera was located.

In all the images shown of the LEM I can’t seem to find one showing a camera on any of the landers legs.

Thanks.
 Quoting: Mark_Roy

You got Me! It was NOT "ON" the landing leg;

it was attached to a fold out panel next to the leg: the pilot deployed it upon landing:

Heres's everything you want to know about the westinghouse cameras on the lunarmissions.

Actually, no one with brain believes we watched it live on television. We heard it live on the radio, if you were in a car at the time, and I assume that the television broadcast played the audio.

The crew had cameras to film themselves, and take photos.

Now back to the basement to dream up another wow moment.

He's right. There was no LIVE video of the landing. They did film it on board using an 8mm film camera, but of course that had to be developed once they returned to earth. With modern technology, that slow frame rate film (6 frames per second in the case of the Apollo 11 landing) has now been interpolated with AI up to much higher frame rate video by some dedicated aficionados. live from the surface of the moon

the words appear onscreen at the one minute mark.

at the 15 second mark - "tv circuit breakers in" and footage of men watching it live.

This footage was watched worlwide not only by small children but adults as well, unless you think Walter Cronkite is a minor boy.

Walter Cronkite commented on what he saw, as well as what he heard.

Television footage, not audio alone, was presented to the world live.

there are so many attempts to re-write history nowadays

On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong made history as the first man to walk on the moon, and uttered his famous words: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." See the moment as it was covered live by CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite.

I watched the first "moonlanding" on a top of the line Zenith color TeeVee, Walter Cronkite was the anchor. We were show a cheezy simulation that was obviously not real with the words "simulation" flashing on the screen.

The first live shot was from the window of the LEM. The camera that filmed Armstrong going down the ladder and his first step was attached to the exterior of the LEM and pulled down by a cord. There is an instruction to throw the circuit breaker for the camera and the first image from this camera was upside down and had extreme contrast.

Thanks for writing this.

So to confirm, after the "cheezy" animation, viewers were shown a "live" broadcast of the moonlanding, yes? If so, either NASA is lying (they always do) or Buzz Aldrin is lying saying we never saw a live moon landing.

Either way, someone is lying here.

Actually I personally proved what they claimed was impossible with the bandwidth they had available, which was 500khz. This signal included everything, it was all broadcast back to earth from a single multiplexed transmitter.

See what kind of video you can produce at a byte rate of 500 kilobytes a second and then add all of the telemetry and the audio communications.

Not only that, the 23 watt transmitter on the lunar lander could not have produced a usable signal to noise ratio with the heat of the moon right in the middle of the main beam of the Earth based radio telescope.
