Unfortunately they do. Until 2019, we had the leftist SYRIZA government and then the Coast Guard would "save refuges", thus proving that navy personnel is following orders from their political principals like in all democratic states.

If Germans want to rescue refugees at sea, they should be taken to Germany -- or merely returned to their own countries.

This policy by private Germans and the German goverment is IMMORAL.

Until recently, news about Greece as a whole was sparse. Germans are informed about the alleged conditions on Lesbos, and prepared by the news to accept more refugees.
Now though we hear about the Oruc Reis and its incursions.

Marcon right now

The situation in the eastern Mediterranean is worrying. Turkey's unilateral decisions on oil exploration are causing tensions. These must end in order to allow a peaceful dialogue between neighboring countries and allies within NATO.
I have decided to temporarily strengthen the French military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean in the coming days, in cooperation with European partners including Greece.

#Greece Mitsotakis & #Egypt Sisi described recent Agreement as a milestone for their relations, a model of cooperation & understanding between neighbors. They also agreed on the fastest possible ratification of the Agreement, which will be sealed by a meeting of the two leaders.

Note that Erdogan controls more oil sources that he needs, after all the only actual oil sources capable of giving any usable amount are the ones in the sea just bellow the Western part of Crete, thus in a non-disputed part of the Greek EZZ. His target is grabbing the island of the Aegean through the process of grabbing the control of half of the Aegean through the means of the illegal EEZ, that's why he wants to nullify the Treaty of Lausanne, but some others remind him that the fall back treaty is that of Sevres in which Turkey would have been only a small state in North-Central Anatolia (Minor Asia).

People need to understand this isn't just about Oil and Gas in the Med, this has to do with Libya. If this blows in the Med this will lead to the ground war in Libya. Erdogan and the GNA will try to take Sirte and Al Jufra base. This is a very serious situation playing out.
