Anonymous Coward User ID: 78224572 United States 08/14/2020 05:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Read the fine print before you hand over money as most of the time dental insurance is a scam as it almost always has maximum payouts/many times has a minimum insuranment time before they pay aka you have to give as much as a years worth of premiums before they pay for anything major. Some of them don't even cover "major" work at all. Talk to dentist about cash and get a discount as many times most small medical fields will give you a discount as it saves them tons of money on insurance billing/being denied and the patient just never paying. |

I keep hearing conflicting things about Delta Dental: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79265838 You will obviously need to check it out carefully, but quite a few people get the work done in Mexico. To avoid problems leave your auto in the USA and it's also a good idea to stay overnight to avoid going thru customs all drugged up and tired. |

You would need to find out what the rates would be for yourself, as they have different tiers of plans. And, then you would have to sit and do the calculations. Exam, x-rays, and what work he would need done - Compared to The coverage option you would choose. You would want to ensure that your dentist was contracted with Delta or as they referred to… In network. Out of network, you’re going to pay more, because they’re not under contract w/ Delta. Some dental offices will offer up towards 25% off total price of care when paying cash/card. Crowns are typically covered at anywhere from 50-80% with Delta. Again, depends on your plan. Some plans do not always cover. You’d have to get the benefit info from ins. Co. Endodontics...Coverage depends on plan. If you’re on a fixed income… You can reach out to your community medical centers, as they usually will have resources for sliding scale fees schedules. Good luck DesertAngel696 |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78686355 08/14/2020 06:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First be sure you're getting good dental care! A dentist tried to extort 40 thousand dollars from me! She said I needed four wisdom teeth extracted and all sorts of work. She was lying. She has an expensive shoe habit and had gotten a divorce. Im guessing she had a few bills outstanding. Plus she was looking for a target, me. I finally found the most fantastic dentist. My entire mouth is all redone for 10 thousand, all my old fillings removed, caps replaced, and his work is amazing. My bite feels perfect now and he retain all four of my wisdom teeth and dsaid whoever told me they needed to come out was an ass. The thing is, if you check , when your over 50, you're actually supposed to have wisdom teeth taken out in a Hospital or clinic with the means to treat emergencies if you go into cardiac arrest. She suggested doing it in her office. Sick bitch. She also wasn't licensed to extract wisdom teeth; that is a special practice. Cap was 1800 for the best. She charged like 3500 each, or more. Each dentist has its own greed threshold. |

One problem recently is that my passport just expired and there's something like a six month wait to get it renewed! I don't think a regular driver's license is valid for border crossing anymore. |

There's really good info here. If I get a significant discount, I can pay cash as long as it's not too much. I wonder what percentage of their normal fees Delta pays? I'm sure the dentist is getting less, so he/she should be able to match that for a cash payment. At least, I'd hope so. Thanks for the good wishes! |

In an emergency you can jump the queue on passport applications. I dont know what part of the country you live in but I think that you might be able to get more reasonable prices in Canada as well. Check with local pensioners self help organizations in your area and also with those who provide charity/low cost medical help. I'm sure that they could put you in touch with the right people. Anyway all the best. |
