the thump test when searching for punk instead of a pink noise

will be what your after

search for the difference between slapping a waterballoon

and a ping pong ball

When the stem begins to dry .

Usually when they have a nice yellow spot where they touch the ground. And a thump test you'll hear a deep tone, instead of a tight tone.

WRONG

When the curly little stem opposite of the watermelon's stem along the vine dries out and dies all the way to the vine,
Then the watermelon is ready

Will a melon ripen further after it is picked? What temp is too cold for them to keep ripening outdoors, will they keep ripening as long as it is above freezing at might?

Cantalope used to be called muskmellons and taste so much better.

Crenshaw mellons are sweeter. Have you even tried one? I bet you a dollar to a doughnut that if you ate one, you wouldend up raising one.

Watermelon is just okay. Ain't nothing to write home about. Even an ordinary one tastes better if you cut it up fancy with serated edgework, and use a melon baller and scoop them out. Then freeze it and serve with mixed frozen berries and peaches and pineapple. You do that to the next party, and they will beg you to keep bringing them.

Freezing intensifies sweetness.

If one were so inclined, you can even add some ethanol and some like that icy cold.

I pick all my blackberries down on the banks of the rivers. Sweetest berries of all. I still won't eat them without freezing them first!

Going to try dehydrating some this year too.
