I mean I know that things get stolen all the time, but dang, up until recently this kind of thing in this region was mostly city orientated and the country folk enjoying the outdoors were left alone for the most part. No more, it seems. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78246572 United States 08/24/2020 12:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dash cams. I installed a 2 channel, front and rear cam in 2019. Some have cloud apps that will notify your phone if motion or impacts are detected. One can get creative on where to place the cams as well. Thieves are like liquid, they take the path of least resistance. Sometimes, a simple cam that's visible is a deterrent. I had a tarded woman talking on her phone pull out in front of me awhile back. I had to swerve fast, honked my horn, she flips me off. I pulled up next to her at the stop light maybe 1/4 mile down the road, said, flip me off again, and I'll post you on youtube and pointed to the cam. She about shit her pants, LOL. The look on her face was priceless. |

Selling scrap is totally different from what it was years ago. You have to surrender your drivers license before unloading your metal, they take your picture, and take a photograph of your vehicle. Then they have to contact the State to see if your vehicle or you have been involved in a theft before. You can't just show up at a yard, drive up on a scale, yell to the scale operator what your load is, drive to where you dump it off, then re-weigh, then drive to the scale operator and get a check. Now with Covid-19, everyone at the yard wears a mask, and we all have to practice social distancing. “Queen Sarah, save us from the Black Dog King!” - from the play, Dissocia [link to tasaonline.org.au (secure)] "Never be anyone's French poodle." - Mr Hamilton |

User ID: 69622314 United States 08/24/2020 07:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only way I know where metal can be gotten rid of is by putting it inside a car body or stuffing it in a refrigerator. This practice will end of hiding other scrap in your load when they start inspecting your load to see exactly what is in it. The contents of a catalytic converter can be knocked out, and mixed with chemicals to put all the precious metals in solution, then add another chemical to get it to drop out. Getting rid of it I don't have a clue. Maybe the laws are lax where precious metals are sold, as compared to iron and aluminum or copper and brass. But at every scrap yard, you must surrender your drivers license and they have to check with the State to see if you've been caught before selling stolen scrap. “Queen Sarah, save us from the Black Dog King!” - from the play, Dissocia [link to tasaonline.org.au (secure)] "Never be anyone's French poodle." - Mr Hamilton |

One on the tailgate, the other on the drivers door. Like it was marked specifically where to cut underneath. Then there was the Mexican ganglike writing on the hood in the dust. Something ending in ‘famili’ They were obviously planning to come back and hit it but we stored it. |

I recall one public camp place I stayed....people were shooting guns all night and partying. I didn't sleep a wink that night. I was on guard the whole time. Many years ago, I went camping with a bunch of my friends. It was a public place too. We took a campsite that was away from everyone. We got kinda drunk and made a huge box wood style bon fire. Flames were shooting up around 10'-12' high. We had the bright idea to throw a can of WD40 into the fire. There was a huge explosion, shrapnel was flying everywhere, and a ball of combustible flame rose up over the tree tops. It looked like a nuclear explosion. Needless to say, we got thrown out of the camping grounds. But it was way cool... |
