Reporting back. MRI shows that the cyst has grown more. I am unsure about surgery that they are suggesting. Before the risk of paralysis was 50/50, but now they are saying that it is closer to 80%. They also say I will eventually be paralysed if this cyst continues to grow. I am using a cane and walker most days now.

Not sure what path to follow at this point. Keep my current mobility with possibility of paralysis or surgery and 20% chance of not being paralysed.

You need to pray on this.

If it was me, I would have the cyst removed, since if you don't have it removed, you will definitely be paralyzed.You need to get a 2nd opinion, also.

Praying for you...I agree with Tiger that you get a 2nd opinion...surgery might be the best option--get the cyst out and that you get some rehab physical therapy to maintain and hopefully improve your mobility.

Please keep hubs in prayer and his friend of over 25 years I mentioned him before...he's been battling cancer off and on for a decade and sadly it keeps coming back...he just started chemo again and the pain is excruicating....please pray the doctors act and give him the pain medication he so desperately needs....hubby's stressing about him because he's like his brother...

I also think a second opinion is a good idea. Surgery while scary may be the best option. Sending up prayers.

Just so you are all aware. This is the 4th Neurosurgeon I have seen. I guess I have been looking for the answer of not getting it done.

Obviously I'm asking a question that you have addressed with all the Doctors, but since you have some mobility now, and the surgery risk is so high, can they slow the growth? Is there a timeframe to when it will likely grow to the point of paralysis? Let's say for example they thought the surgery risk would only be slightly higher if you waited a year, and it is very unlikely to have grown much more than that, then maybe a wait and see approach may be the way to go.


I hope that made sense. I'm very tired and have a lot tumbling around in my head right now, but wanted to respond.

Lifting you up in prayer. Only you can make that decision but praying that God gives you the wisdom to make the right decision. Also praying that you will be healed and not require any surgery.

I go for MRI's every 2 months. The growth has been minimal, up to this last imaging. They have stated that the cyst has expanded downward more and has gotten wider. It is currently sitting c2 - t11 nerve root (originally c2 - to t2 nerve root) and widest part is 8mm (originally 4mm - 5mm at widest point.)

I do not have a chiari. So no Cranial decompression surgery. I do have severe spinal stenosis in the cervical sections and moderate to severe spinal stenosis in the thoracic regions.

1 more thing that the doctors have said. The pain may be worse forever, than what I have now due to the surgery on top of the higher diagnosis of paralysis. The way to slow the growth is through this surgery. They can not remove the cyst. They have to install a shunt to drain the fluid build up into my body.

Some concerns I have are the obvious one. Paralysis. My next is that I will have to get someone here full time to help care for me as my wife...well...she is not going to do it....and my finances are super tight due getting Medical Retirement(pay is 40% of what it was until I reach retirement age)

Sending prayers that you be guided towards the right decision for you.

Have you tried any alternative healing methods? There are things you can try while you wait on surgery.

Tried acupuncture, strength training, cupping, meditation multiple times daily, massages, CBD oil, and D-8.

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and chlorine dioxide are 2 things that I have read a lot of good things about. This video is about the DMSO. Read the comments. There are a lot of people with experience using it.

I don't have any links right off for the chlorine dioxide (MMS), but I'm sure YT, Rumble, etc have a lot of videos.

I have melted skin growths off of my body with colloidal silver. It can also be taken internally, though I have no experience with that yet.

I'm sure you can find a lot of information on all 3 of these treatments in the GLP archives.
