Emergency room doctors explained that to me when I had to bring a neighbor into the ER from a tree branch puncturing his lung. He was gasping for air but able to talk.

The cop shot 4 times and appears he was out of ammo. Then he appears to drop and load another mag, but doesn't rack it until he is asking the other cop to look at his shoulder. Good thing the thug didn't jump out of the bushes, before he racked the round. Just shows how poorly cops are trained.

The cop was being unbelievably cool with the kid, considering the plume of happy tobaccy smoke that was emanating from the vehicle. Kid would have probably been given a slap on the wrist if he had just remained respectful and owned up to his mistake (and the gun in the car), rather than escalate the situation.
