bags of crisps in the uk used to be a standard 30g, now to combat obesetiy on increase profits the standard is about 16.5g.

On the other hand in North America you cant really buy a single portion of your chips - has to be a great big bag - and your obesity problem is worrying. so might be something in it.

Yep crisps are very expensive in the UK. Even in Europe you can buy Lays crisps nice big bag for about 1 euro. Its not so much the crisps that causes people to get fat but the diet coke.

Have you noticed fat people drink gallons of diet coke? Back in the 90's they fed lab rats sugar free diet coke and the lab rats grew HUGE almost the size of a cat!!

The bargain cookies went from four rows in a tray to three rows and now the cookie itself is 30% smaller.

This was posted nine years ago. The products have gotten smaller since then and gone up in price. The amazing shrinking products!

Re: I found a 10 year old 7 ounce can of tuna in the back of our pantry
It’s was a 7 ounce can. I compared it to a new can of tuna. Cans of tuna now are only 4 ounces and cost the same or more. That is a 40% reduction in product.

The 10 year-old can was undamaged and not bulging, so I made tuna salad out of it. It had a bit of a metallic taste, but other than that is was fine.

Does anyone else have Examples of food shrinkage?

While food prices have doubled and sometimes even quadrupled in the last 10 years, pay scales have not.

I was going to post that earlier but couldn't remember name or channel. Good show. They like just about anything except the 100 year old fermented fish from Norway's whaling days someone sent them. hf

Yeah i recall looking at a can of tuna recently and was confused at the lack of protein in the can. Not just smaller cans though but more expensive as well.
I can't eat for less than $350 a month that's mostly beans eggs and pasta with steak 2 nights a week. Unreal prices.

Pepsodent toothpaste used to be delicious. We had part of an old tube in the shelf next to the tub and I used to sneak little bits when I was quite small.I wonder what made it taste so good compared to modern toothpaste.

At least you can get six 12oz cans of canned chicken breast for $10 at Sam's/Costco. Cheaper and tastes better. Have lots of it stored as preps.

Make sure the look at the total calories per can. I find that Sam's club has a lot less calories per can then the stuffed Costco sells meaning there's a lot more water in it.

Whole chicken in a can looks vile. Ok if its chicken like from a chinese but a whole chicken loks like an octapus or alien in a can. Good for survival though.
