So far I haven't had a run in with a Karen or anyone else at the local stores here.

My adult daughter is hearing impaired and reads my lips and wears hearing aids, which help but aren't perfect.

Why hasn't anyone talked about how freakin' hard this is on the hearing impaired and deaf? How am I supposed to communicate with her? She can't hear me if I wear a mask. She says it's like trying to hear a muffled, low sounding speaker at a fast food drive thru, if she hears anything at all. I ditched my mask back in May. I was so over the hype by then.

OP I'm in Florida. I usually accompany my maskless face with some meme shirts. I've got 2 shirts that have a sheep with mask on and the word 'Baaaaah'. I have other shirts with Plandemic Cure and a T.V. being smashed. I have quite a few anti-establishment shirts and it has opened up many opportunities for conversations. A lot of people are hip to something not being right with this Covid-19 crap. But most unfortunately are too scared to not comply. This whole country needs a massive shot of testosterone, maybe that will overcome the chemical castration that has been thrusted upon us and has turned most of the men into obedient bootlickers. I see far too many men being led around by their nuts and getting yelled at by their women for letting their mask slip below their nose. Sad....damn near 80 years ago we were storming beaches in France, laughing in the face of almost certain death in some areas....now we cower to the sniffles.

A big problem with this study was the peculiar interpretation of the results by the authors. Their results, given in log copies per mL, show that surgical masks reduced median viral emission by 27.5% and cotton masks reduced median viral emission by 80.4%. Just the fact that a reusable cotton mask was more effective than a manufactured surgical mask was news worthy by itself. Instead, the public was misled to believe the masks were totally ineffective.

It is hard to understand how the authors deemed that an 80% reduction of viral emission constitutes an “ineffective” intervention. With 80% reduction of viral emissions writ large, tens of thousands who have died of Covid-19 might be alive today. Cotton masks have never been promoted as 100% effective, not even N95 masks are. So setting that up as a rigid pass-fail metric was misleading and has endangered public health by obfuscating important degrees of efficacy.
